Bitcoin Calc

My annoying bitcoin macro-calculation (coiners hate it ):
today's bitcoin price x annual number of coins (profit)
minus annual energy cost (loss)

Miner income: $110k x 165k coins = $18.15 billion
Energy cost: 197 terawatts @ $0.0105 per kwatt = $20.7 billion

Collectively, the miners have lost around $4-5 billion since April 2024 and are probably still posting a true net loss, with lots of paper shuffling to make it look differently to investors.

Fantasy extrapolation for 2028 (the next Halving):

Assumptions:
Bitcoin price triples (HAHAHAHAHA!)
Energy prices rise 5% per year (HAHA!)
Bitcoin energy increase falls from 25% to 10% per year (HAHAHA!)

Miner income: $330k x 83k coins = $27 billion
Energy cost: 260 terawatts @ $0.012 per kwatt = $31 billion

yikes.
